Breathing in asbestos fibers can lead to asbestos related diseases and they kill more people than any other single work-related cause.  The law states that employers must not use respirators as the only control measure and it should not be used as a first-line of protection.  However, there are occasions where respirators are chosen as a first line of protection.  Some employers do not pay sufficient attention to the selection of right respirators; fit testing and methodologies for making sure that the chosen respirators continue to provide adequate protection.
