Response and Preparedness against Terrorism Attacks

ABSTRACT

 

Learning from the cases of preceding terrorism attacks, especially from the simultaneous attacks in New York in September 2001, Fire and Disaster Management Agency has established countermeasures against terrorism attacks for the protection of citizens by compiling response manuals for attacks, establishing training courses of fire fighters, and constructing emergency responding systems in local governments, as well as the storage of personal protective equipments including respirators, and equipments for fire fighting.

 

This presentation gives a review of the responding systems against terrorism attacks prepared by Fire and Disaster Management Agency, and problems included in the available equipments for this purpose.

 

The contents of the review include the following items;

1) Manual of fire fighting activity against chemical (poisons and hazards) attacks

2)   Set up of training courses for specific disasters in The College of Fire

Fighting   

3)   Establishment of Emergency Responding Systems and performance of training in Local Public Associations

4)   Arrangement of equipments for responding terrorism attacks and fire fighting.
